This high-intensity cardio group class craze has been spreading around the fitness world lately. High Intensity Cardio is also known as HIT Cardio. A lot of people ask me about the benefits and drawbacks of HIT cardio compared to your traditional long sustained cardio, so here’s some perspective.

Whether it’s hiring a personal trainer or simply working out on your own, most of us want to get the best bang for our buck in the shortest amount of time. We already have busy lives, we all have a lot going on, and most people are not at the experience and fitness level they want because they don’t take the time necessary to get it done.

This is where HIT cardio comes in.

HIT is a technique where you can come into the gym for anywhere between 7-15 minutes and burn the same amount of calories and get the same cardio benefit as you would doing 2-3x that same amount in a sustained cardio workout. With a quality, qualified HIT program, yes, 10 minutes of HIT will produce a very similar caloric burn as that of a 25-30 minute sustained cardio workout.

This means 3 things for you:

1.     You get in and out of the gym quicker

2.     You get better results

3.     Your body is able to maximize its time effectiveness and efficiency
