Our trainers get a lot of questions that boil down to a common goal: Better workouts, better results, in a more time-efficient way to fit people’s lifestyles. That means that sometimes we feel we can’t get resistance/weight training AND cardio workouts in and still manage to balance work, family and everything else.

Here’s a great tip: Another way for you to overload your muscles, break them down faster, and also get a cardio workout would be to incorporate the Rest/Pause Intensity Technique.

You will go ahead and perform a full set and at the end of the set, instead of putting the weight down, you will simply hold it for 10 seconds doing a Rest/Pause. Then you will continue onto your next set, never letting the weight down.

What this does is it overloads the muscle because you didn’t give it a break, but you gave your cardiovascular system enough of a break to bring in new oxygen, new nutrients, and new power into your muscles, which are actually moving the weight.

Try it, and let me know how your results improved! You’ll be amazed at significant improvements that come from subtle changes we make together!
