Here’s another in our recent Intensity Techniques series we’ve been getting so much great feedback on: this one is what we call Staggered Sets (also known as pyramiding).
You’ll perform this technique by picking a weight that you can do 12 reps with. Perform your first set. Then add more weight and do 10 reps. For the third set, add more weight and do 8 reps, and so on ending somewhere between 2-4 reps for your last set. Keep your form!
This will overload your central nervous system because you are progressively adding more and more weight with each rep, but while you are adding more weight, you are performing fewer and fewer reps. This way you aren’t requiring your body to do the same amount of reps with heavier weight.
This is a great technique for building overall mass while also achieving maximum size and definition, which is why it’s a great choice for body builders.
Try it today, and let me know how it goes! You’ll be pretty amazed at the impact and the acceleration of your progress…oh yeah, and short term, you’ll fill out that summer t-shirt in a whole new way right after your workout!
